Job summary

Kendo Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Temp - Packaging Designer in San Francisco. The role focuses on creating compelling exterior packaging that translates our brand strategy into market-ready designs.

The candidate will develop packaging concepts, review work with senior leaders, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality, timing, and print-ready specifications for diverse brands in the Kendo portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Create inspiring, strategic packaging concepts for primary and secondary packaging.
  • Review designs with Creative Director and SVP of Packaging.
  • Develop consistent product and packaging codes across lines and collections.
  • Support launches with 3D renderings and comps for cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure artwork meets dieline, finishes, bleed, trim, and color requirements.
  • Collaborate with Production to deliver artwork on time.

The salary range for this temp position is $45.00 - $55.00 per hour. Offered salary is dependent upon experience and San Francisco location. This is a hybrid role based in our downtown San Francisco office – Tues through Thursday in-office, with Monday and Friday remote.

The Kendo house of brands currently includes: Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, Fenty Eau de Parfum, Fenty Hair, Ole Henriksen, Lip Lab.

SUMMARY

The Temp - Packaging Designer is responsible for creating inspiring and innovative exterior package design for Kendo Brands. This position is key to translating our branding message and strategy into compelling external package design.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create inspiring, strategic, and innovative ideas for compelling primary and secondary packaging designs.
  • Review proposed designs with the Creative Director and SVP of Packaging prior to sharing with cross-functional teams to ensure design aesthetics and requirements are met.
  • Ideate design concepts by developing consistent product and packaging codes across core products, line extensions, and limited-edition collections.
  • Support package design development for upcoming programs/launches on designated brands. Partner with product development and packaging teams to achieve the highest level of quality for each project, understanding limitations due to timing, costs, etc.
  • Support the presentation of packaging designs to the cross-functional team, including the development/completion of 3D renderings and comps.
  • Extend approved master creative compositions and layouts into the various sizes and formats needed for products while maintaining the original creative intent and specifications (including dieline, special finishes, bleed, trim, type safety, resolution, and color mode); effectively manage files to ensure accessibility for print specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Production team to ensure artwork is delivered accurately and on time.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience in design, and 1 year of experience in packaging; a BA in design is preferred.
  • Passion for the beauty industry.
  • Driven and creative individual with experience developing innovative package designs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines, manage multiple projects, and work productively in a team environment are required.
  • Very strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in creating presentations from materials to concepts.
  • Advanced Apple computer skills in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, with a specialty in Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
