3 South is a cardiac telemetry unit caring for patients with significant cardiac disease and related conditions.Typical disease processes include chest pain, congestive heart failure, advanced heart failure, and syncope.Patients may require echocardiograms, stress tests, and diagnostic and interventional heart catheterization.Also handles MitraClip, Watchman, Tikosyn initiation, and TAVR patients.May overflow generalized med/surg and other non-cardiac patients as needed.May be asked to help precept new hires and RN residents.
First to float primarily to one of five other med/surg units, typically staffed at 5:1 guidelines.
