Job summary

HonorHealth is seeking a Telemetry Monitoring Technician to monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms at the central telemetry station across multiple Phoenix-area locations. The role requires attention to rhythm changes, accurate documentation, and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure safe patient care during night shifts.

Required education includes a High School Diploma or GED and ECG training; several nursing-related certifications or experiences are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • ECG class completion and ECG exam required.
  • Block 1 Nursing or Technician-Patient Care or Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant or Paramedic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor waveforms and identify normal rhythms and dysrhythmias.
  • Document rhythm strips every shift and as needed with rhythm changes.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain telemetry transmitters and receivers.
  • Communicate with the healthcare team about abnormal rhythms or rhythm changes.
  • Assist and provide input as a resource to the healthcare team.
  • Provide customer service by addressing questions or concerns from patients and families.

Job Summary

Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms at the central telemetry station. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's departmental policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Monitors waveforms and identifies normal rhythms and dysrhythmias.
  • Documents rhythm strip every shift and as needed with any changes in rhythm.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains telemetry transmitters and receivers.
  • Communicates with the healthcare team of any abnormal rhythm or changes in a patient’s rhythm.
  • Assists, provides input, and serves as a resource to the healthcare team.
  • Provides customer service by addressing or redirecting questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, visitors or healthcare team members.
  • Maintains unit and other regulatory education requirements.
  • Participates in continuing education, quality improvement activities, and supports membership in technical organizations.
  • Utilizes material resources in a cost-effective manner.
  • Recommends cost-saving measures within the department or unit.
  • Responds appropriately to crisis/emergency situations.
  • Seeks guidance from appropriate resources relevant to the situation.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Other / Certificate Must be able to complete ECG Class and pass ECG exam Required
Experience
  • Completion of Block 1 Nursing Preferred
  • Technician-Patient Care (PCT) Preferred
  • Medical Assistant (MA) Preferred
  • Nursing Assistant (NA) Preferred
  • Paramedic Preferred
License and Certifications
