Job summary

Northside Hospital is seeking a Telemetry Monitor Technician to oversee the Central Monitoring Unit. You will coordinate with multiple departments, ensure accurate record keeping, and promptly escalate cardiac rhythm changes to nursing staff.

The role requires prior telemetry experience, strong knowledge of Medical Terminology, and an AHA BLS certification. Additional duties may include standby Monitor Technician responsibilities and 24-hour coverage in the manager’s absence.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Ability to interpret EKG/arrhythmia data.
• BLS certification required by American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of Central Monitoring Unit and resolve HR, telemetry, scheduling issues, and equipment problems.
• Coordinate as liaison with all departments providing telemetry monitoring.
• Maintain accurate record keeping and monitor observation; escalate rhythm changes to nursing staff.
• May perform Monitor Technician duties as needed and cover 24-hour department operations in the manager's absence.

Responsibilities

Provides oversight of the operations of the Central Monitoring Unit to include resolution of concerns related to human resources, telemetry capacity, scheduling issues, and equipment functionality. Works closely and serves as a communication liaison with all departments that provide telemetry monitoring. Responsible for the departmental processes that support accurate record keeping, observation of telemetry monitors, and prompt identification and escalation of cardiac rhythm changes to appropriate nursing personnel. May perform the duties of a Monitor Technician as needed. In the absence of the manager, may assume 24-hour responsibility for the department.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

LPN/PARAMEDIC/EMT

• Completion of LPN, Paramedic or EMT program and appropriate license
• Two (2) years of experience
• Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
• Demonstrated competency in Medical Terminology
• Demonstrated competency in EKG/arrhythmia interpretation
• Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) or Certified Cardiac Technician (CCT) or Certified National Telemetry Technician (NTA) within 6 months of employment

MONITOR TECHNICIAN

• Five (5) years of experience as a monitor technician
• Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification Demonstrated competency in Medical Terminology
• Demonstrated competency in EKG/arrhythmia interpretation
• Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) or Certified Cardiac Technician (CCT)

PREFERRED

• Associates Degree in healthcare related field of study
• 1 year supervisory experience
• Graduate from an accredited CVT program
• National certification in specialty area
