Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City is seeking a part-time Staff Nurse to join our downtown campus team. The role emphasizes leadership in coordinating comprehensive patient care, discharge planning and collaboration across disciplines.

A signed-on incentive up to $10,000 is available based on experience. The position requires an RN license in Iowa, a nursing degree, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Nursing or registered nursing credentials; BSN preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license by date of hire.
• ACLS certification desired.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Telemetry/cardiac step-down experience or ICU internship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' nursing care needs and evaluate effectiveness of care provided.
• Provide leadership to nursing team to maintain patient care standards.
• Coordinate transfer and discharge planning across episodes of care.
• Apply quality improvement principles to improve patient outcomes and participate in quality activities.
• Develop and implement interdisciplinary care plans with patients and families.
