Job summary

Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Criminal Investigation division is seeking qualified candidates for a GS-14 level specialty in communications systems. The role emphasizes evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving radio communications as part of CI's Asset and Knowledge Management area.

Applicants should have experience with configuring and installing radio communications equipment, interpreting drawings and system schematics, and coordinating user requests to support secure voice

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-14: To be eligible for this position at this grade level, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology. AND

• Programming, testing, repairing, and installing mobile radios, handheld radios, repeaters, and dispatch consoles.
• Evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving radio communications systems, procedures, and requirements.
• Developing, overseeing, or performing site preparation and installation of new or relocated radio communications equipment,
• Coordinating user requests, identifying equipment needs, configuring voice and data network devices.
• Interpreting drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete communication systems with analog to digital converters, pulse generators, multiplexers, timing circuits, transmitters, receivers, and similar involved subunits.

AND

You must also meet the following requirements

• MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Minimum age for federal employment is 18 years old, or at least 16 years old and have:
  • Graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or
  • Completed a formal vocational training program; or
  • Received a statement from school authorities agreeing with your preference for employment rather than continuing your education.
