Telecommunications Mechanic II (PSTS-2025-22841):

Bowhead seeks to network with a Telecommunications Mechanic II for a newly awarded contract to provide Base Telecom Support at the Naval Hospital Bremerton, Bremerton, WA. The effort will provide telecommunications operations and maintenance (O&M), including secure and reliable, classified and unclassified, voice and data services in support of Command, Control, Computer, Communications and Information (C4I) operations and exercises.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:

  • Operate and maintain government-owned telephony switches (PBX), including:
    • Avaya Systems CM4.0
  • Perform:
    • Troubleshooting and repair of switch issues
    • Software updates and patching
    • Installation and configuration of switch hardware
    • Daily operation monitoring
    • Support for voicemail systems and IPE (Remote Intelligent Peripheral Equipment)
  • Utilize company vehicle to travel to remote locations weekly.
  • Ensure switch systems remain fully operational and compliant with DoD/Navy standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate’s degree or higher in IT or Cybersecurity (preferred).
  • Experience: 2 years required, 5 years preferred; prior experience within DoD networks.
  • Skills/Certifications:
    • Avaya Certified Support Specialist (ACSS) or equivalent (required)
    • Nortel Meridian System Administration or equivalent (highly preferred)
    • IAT Level II (per DoD 8570.01-M)
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or equivalent

Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Effective communication skills with all levels of employees and outside contacts.

Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Twist, bend, and squat periodically.

Security Clearance: Must hold a Secret level security clearance; US Citizenship required.
