Job summary

Timmons Group in Winchester, VA is seeking a Telecommunications Field Technician to join our Telecommunications & MRE group. You will collect GPS positions, photos and attribute data for utility assets in the field and provide analysis of infrastructure.

The role requires outdoor work, data management, and collaboration with GIS Field Surveyors and Project Managers to ensure data integrity and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Working knowledge of ArcGIS, AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Ability to research and suggest new methods or tools to improve tasks.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; able to convey technical information clearly.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 20 lbs and working outdoors in varied conditions.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Collect GPS positions, photos and attribute data for utility assets in the field.
• Survey in outdoor conditions, sometimes challenging terrain and weather.
• Walk moderate distances while carrying equipment.
• Communicate with property owners about data collection and its purpose.
• Manage data files daily to ensure integrity and security.
• Assist team leads in interpreting maps and determining survey approaches.
• Maintain equipment and perform basic troubleshooting as needed.
• Collaborate with GIS Field Surveyors, Supervisors and Project Managers to complete tasks.

Timmons Group is currently seeking aTelecommunicationsField Technicianto join our Telecommunications & MRE group located in Winchester, VA.The Telecommunications Field Technician will work with leading electrical and telecommunication companies to inspect assets and provide analysis of infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesof a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• Collect GPS Positions, photos and attribute data for utility data related to electric and telecommunications assets in the field.
• Comfortable workingoutside independentlyin challenging conditions daily
• Ability to walk moderate distances carrying equipment
• Comfortable engaging property owners and discussing the data collection task and its necessity
• Manages data files daily to ensure data integrity and data security
• Interprets map information to determine the best approach to efficiently surveying project area
• Meets or exceeds overall quality control standards established by the client
• Maintains equipment by caring for and providing basic troubleshooting
• Works in an efficient manner while requiring limited supervision
• Responsible for basic maintenance and care for company vehicle
• Works cooperatively with other GIS Field Surveyors, Field Supervisors and/or Project Managers to complete assigned work

Skills/Requirementsof a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• High school diploma/GED
• Ideal candidates will have working knowledge and experience with data conversion using ArcGIS, AutoCAD or Microstation
• Must be able to assist the Technical Analysts/project manager in researching and recommending new methods, equipment, or programs to better accomplish tasks
• Good oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate technical information, ability to research, interpret and summarize data
• Ability to lift and carry 20lbs across diverse terrain for long distances and in a variety of weather conditions
• This individual must be highly motivated, a self-starter; flexible, detail-oriented, enjoy interacting with employees and clients; willing to work at a dynamic pace to complete

Compensation:Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $50,000-$55,000. Offers are based on a range of job-related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials and role complexity.
