Job summary

Leidos LLC seeks a Telecommunications Engineering Technician to support FAA modernization from Legacy Infrastructure to IP. You will perform site surveys, develop transition plans, and coordinate with SSC, Verizon, and Operations to ensure smooth outages and project execution.

Ideal candidates hold a electronics engineering degree (or master’s), readiness to travel up to 75%, and clearance eligibility. Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD is expected.

  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Review FAA databases and provide input or draft Site Survey Reports (SSRs).
  • Conduct site surveys to draft SSRs.
  • Coordinate schedules with SSC, ES, and Verizon personnel.
  • Draft Project Risk Plans (PRP) and ORMPs.
  • Generate/update drawings, sketches, and artifacts.
  • Draft site preparation activity plans.
  • Coordinate outages with SSC, ATC and Operations personnel.
  • Develop transition plans.
  • Resolve schedule conflicts.
  • Accompany unbadged personnel at facilities.
  • Work with LECs on schedules.
  • Develop district status briefings/information/reports.
  • Collaborate with other Districts/SSCs on service flows and transitions.

Job description

The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking a Telecommunications Engineering Technician to provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Central Service Area - Engineering Services Group located across the United States. The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of the FAA’s Legacy Infrastructure to Future Technologies Portfolio and the goal of converting National Airspace Connectivity from TDM to IP. The scope includes Telecommunications Infrastructure Replacement, Small Tower Voice Switches, Air to Ground Protocol Converters and NEXCOM Radios.

Job Duties
  • Review FAA data bases and provide input and or draft Site Survey Reports (SSR).
  • Conduct site surveys to provide input and/or draft Site Survey Reports.
  • Coordinate schedules with SSC, ES, and Verizon personnel.
  • Draft Project Risk Plans (PRP) and Operational Risk Management Plans (ORMP).
  • Generate and/or update drawings, sketches, and artifacts.
  • Draft project plans for site preparation activities.
  • Coordinate scheduled outages with SSC, Air Traffic and Operations personnel.
  • Develop transition plans.
  • Resolve schedule conflicts.
  • Accompany unbadged personnel at facilities.
  • Work with LECs on schedules.
  • Develop briefings/information/reports on District status.
  • Work with other Districts/SSC on interstate service flows, transitions, cutovers, planning, etc.
  • Support District POC and SSCs with day-to-day work activities.
  • Review and provide comments on Verizon Site Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree.
  • Additional experience may be substituted/considered/accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (To be eligible for Public Trust Security Clearance, one must be either a U.S. Citizen OR a U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder who has resided in the U.S.A for the past 3 years).
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suites.
Desired Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience working with Telco systems performing Network Troubleshooting.
  • Proficient working with AutoCAD or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Assoc (NFPA) standards, National Airspace System Equipment Tower.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.
  • Knowledge of NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, RCAG.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $59,150.00 - $106,925.00
