Overview

The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos seeks a Telecommunications Engineering Technician to provide support to the FAA Central Service Area – Engineering Services Group across the United States. Work location will be in Oakland, CA.

Support the FAA Enterprise Network Services Program, which designs, builds, operates, and maintains the FAA's next‑generation communications platform and a dynamic, highly available, and secure enterprise network supporting all mission‑critical applications across the NAS.

Responsibilities

• Review FAA databases and provide input and/or draft Site Survey Reports (SSR).
• Conduct site surveys to provide input and/or draft Site Survey Reports.
• Coordinate schedules with SSC, ES, and Verizon personnel.
• Draft Project Risk Plans (PRP) and Operational Risk Management Plans (ORMP).
• Generate and/or update drawings, sketches, and artifacts.
• Draft project plans for site preparation activities.
• Coordinate scheduled outages with SSC, Air Traffic and Operations personnel.
• Develop transition plans.
• Resolve schedule conflicts.
• Accompany unbadged personnel at facilities.
• Work with LECs on schedules.
• Develop briefings, information, and reports on District status.
• Work with other Districts/SSC on interstate service flows, transitions, cutovers, planning, etc.
• Support District POC and SSCs with day‑to‑day work activities.
• Review and provide comments on Verizon Site Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience OR a Master’s degree. Additional experience may be substituted/considered/accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to travel 75%.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability; one must be either a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder who has resided in the U.S. for the past 3 years of the past 5 years consecutively with no breaks.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suites.

Desired Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working with Telco systems performing Network Troubleshooting.
• Proficient working with AutoCAD or similar tools.
• Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, National Airspace System Equipment Tower.
• Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.
• Knowledge of NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, RCAG.

Pay Range

$59,150.00 - $106,925.00
