Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Telecommunications BIM Designer to join our global design team. You will set up and manage Revit BIM models and produce 2D construction drawings in coordination with telecom leads, architects, and engineers.

You’ll collaborate across disciplines to create fully coordinated 3D models (C,S,A,M,E,P,T,I,L) and ensure compliance with Jacobs and client BIM standards. The role requires 3+ years in Revit and telecom design in a data center context.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of Revit design experience.
• 2+ years in telecommunications systems design and construction.

As a BIM Designer, you will be engaged in the design documentation while being responsible for the set-up and management of Revit BIM models in coordination with other discipline BIM leads and team members. Working under the direction of telecom discipline or project leads, this position provides an opportunity to showcase your Revit expertise in while staying in accordance with Jacobs and client BIM standards. Using a mixture of the Revit, Navisworks and AutoCAD software platforms you will create and manage content towards fully coordinated 3D models across all design disciplines (C,S,A,M,E,P,T,I,L) as well as creating 2D construction drawings. This is all accomplished in coordination with other designers, discipline leads, architects and engineers who are all on the same Jacobs design team. Using the Jacobs design methods in conjunction with your keen eye for detail and established BIM skills, you will be part of our telecom design team working to turn the design intent of our senior telecom design staff into constructable deliverables including clash-free 3D models.

Here’s what you’ll need

• High school graduate or equivalent
• At least 3 years of Revit design experience
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in telecommunications systems design and construction industry
• A growing understanding of how codes and standards shape design decisions
• A growing understanding of design and construction specifications and their function
• Experience following client design and modeling standards
• Familiarity with Bluebeam as a markup software
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to learn new things

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, or related engineering discipline
• Understanding of data center environments
• Knowledge and design experience with paging, intercom and audio-visual systems
• Ability to estimate hours required for design and modeling efforts based on provided mark-ups and/or verbal direction requests
• Basic understanding of wiring/cabling connections in relation to a circuit or a link between devices and equipment

The base salary range for this position is $77,000.00 to $118,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
