Job summary

PacifiCorp in Portland, OR is seeking an engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering design for enterprise telecommunications systems. The role covers FCC licensing, frequency coordination, site management, and provisioning of telecom infrastructure across generation, transmission, distribution, and related facilities.

The position offers progression from Level II to Level III with responsibilities spanning budgeting, timelines, and cross-functional coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college/university.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications or networking experience.
• Ability to document design of systems using CAD.
• Knowledge of trunking, SONET, T1, Frame Relay, and related telecom concepts.
• Experience with FCC licensing, frequency coordination, and ASR applications.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.

Responsibilities

• Independently conduct engineering research studies and analyses including FCC licensing and frequency coordination.
• Develop engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, and design documents.
• Coordinate with disciplines and customer representatives to design telecom transport systems.
• Design major network and communications systems and implement provisioning.
• Provide budget estimates for construction project requirements.
• Provide technical input during project planning and development.
• Coordinate site visits with field personnel to accomplish work.
• Maintain project timelines and budgets.
• Prepare bid packages for external engineering services.
• Review system performance and analyze results.
• Participate in associations influencing policy.
• Recommend alternative engineering solutions to senior staff.
