Job summary

Bowhead seeks a Maintenance Trades Helper for a potential addition to a contract at Whiteman Air Force Base, MO. The role involves supporting BTS maintenance, inspections, and work orders, with emphasis on manual/logistical tasks under supervision.

This is a part-time/on-call position requiring OSHA/AFOSH compliance and base access. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, 0–1 year of related work, and basic tool skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical or vocational coursework is a plus but not required.
• 0–1 year of related maintenance/support experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain base access credentials.

Responsibilities

• Provide manual and logistical support to technicians performing ISP and OSP maintenance and work orders.
• Stage, transport, and organize tools, materials, and equipment at job sites.
• Assist with cable placement, removal, and organization under supervision.
• Open, close, and secure handholes, maintenance holes, and cabinets as directed.
• Clean maintenance holes, handholes, terminals, and work areas; remove debris.
• Support PMIs by preparing work areas and assisting during inspections.
• Assist with cable location, staking, and marking; place markers, measure distances.
• Label and organize cables, terminals, and materials as directed.
• Set up and restore job sites; barricade, place signs, and clean up.
• Operate basic hand tools; follow safety requirements.
• Transport materials between facilities and job sites using approved vehicles.
• Follow OSHA/AFOSH and base procedures; work as part of a team.
• Maintain professional identification on a military installation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
