Job summary

Klaasmeyer Construction Company Inc. in Nashville, TN is hiring an Equipment Operator to support telecommunications construction. You will operate excavators and related equipment, dig trenches, protect underground utilities, and keep crews moving safely and on schedule.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 2–4 years of heavy equipment operation experience, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather. CDL and OSHA certifications are preferred or obtainable after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2–4 years of verifiable heavy equipment operation experience, with excavator proficiency.
• Experience with mini excavators in confined areas preferred.
• Knowledge of underground utilities, 811/one-call, and tolerance zones.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, mini excavators, trenchers, CTLs, skid steers and attachments to cut trenches and excavate pits near utilities.
• Grade, lay out to spec, and adapt based on soil conditions and field direction.
• Verify utilities and mark before digging; report unmarked strikes immediately.
• Perform potholing/hand digging to confirm utility locations before close excavation.
• Conduct pre-op inspections and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Set up and maintain traffic control per MUTCD when near roadways.
• Log daily production, equipment hours, and site conditions.
