Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Tele Sitter Technician to provide continuous observation and support to patients. The role requires monitoring, verbal redirection, and rapid communication with the nursing team to ensure safety and quality care in a on-site, part-time capacity.

Ideal candidates will have at least 1 year in a hospital setting and a high school diploma, with observers course completion and BLS preferred. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and a daytime shift.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visual observation of assigned patients.
• Redirect patients verbally via two-way audio in patient rooms.

• Learn new skills to support expanded programs and services.
• Provide care as delegated by the RN according to patient needs.

Job Summary

The Tele Sitter Technician provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. Verbally redirects the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors. Alerts the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient's family or significant other(s). They will also maintain and demonstrate high standards of professional ethics.

Position Responsibilities

• Always maintains visual observation of patients.
• Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room.
• Immediately alerts the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
• Demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules, works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and department safety programs.
• Actively participates in learning new skills needed to support new and/or expanded programs and services.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide the appropriate care to this patient population based on the patient's individualized care needs as delegated by the RN.
• Participates in hand-off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving on unit and upon completion of shift assignment.
• Demonstrates understanding and practicing the use of tele-sitter software program.

Position Qualifications Required

Required Experience

• 1-year previous experience in a hospital environment required.
• 1-year direct patient care experience required.

Required Education

• High School diploma or GED

Training / Certification / Licensure

• Successful completion of Observer course
• Current Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Preferred
• Certification preferred (patient care technician, nurse assistant, medical assistant)

Hourly Rate

$19.54 - $29.20

The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
