Job summary

HM Staffing Solutions LLC is seeking a skilled Low-Voltage Technician to install, test, and troubleshoot a range of communication systems in commercial spaces. You will interpret blueprints, lead cable installations, and perform terminations with precision and care.

You’ll mentor junior installers, plan weekly material needs, and ensure safety and quality on every job site. The role requires OSHA 10 and the ability to work independently or with a team in dynamic construction environments.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of low-voltage installation experience in commercial construction.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and work from drawings.
  • Knowledge of color codes and cable termination methods.
  • OSHA 10 Certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Install and terminate Coax, UTP, DAS, AV, Multiconductor, Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and Fiber cables and connectors.
  • Operate copper and fiber test equipment to identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Read and apply drawings, specifications, and job scopes accurately.
  • Anticipate weekly labor and material needs for projects.
  • Build daily to-do lists and ensure installers follow standards and best practices.
  • Perform retrofits and system enhancements for existing cabling and devices.
  • Assist in laying out cable pathways and guide junior crew members.
  • Mount and configure devices like switches, cameras, and UPS systems.
  • Report daily task progress to Project Leads and track materials.
  • Promote safety, professionalism, and cleanliness on-site; represent the company with pride.
  • Follow OSHA 10 guidelines and ensure installations align with Instrata standards.
  • Collaborate with Leads and Foremen on bonding, grounding, and firestopping.

Low‑Voltage Technician

HM Staffing is looking for a skilled, driven Technician who’s passionate about installing, testing, and troubleshooting a wide range of communication systems. From fiber optics to access control, you'll be part of a team that builds the infrastructure powering today's most advanced commercial spaces. In this role, you’ll interpret blueprints, lead cable installations, and perform terminations and equipment setups with precision and care. Whether you're mentoring junior installers or planning weekly material needs, you’ll bring quality, consistency, and professionalism to every job site. What You’ll Do – Execute with Precision.   • Handle installation and termination of Coax, UTP, DAS, AV, Multiconductor, Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and Fiber cables and connectors.
  • Operate copper and fiber test equipment; identify and resolve performance issues.

  • Build and follow daily to-do lists, and ensure installers follow standards and best practices.

  • Mount and configure electronic devices such as switches, cameras, and UPS systems.
  • Report daily task progress to Project Leads; monitor and track project materials.
  • Promote safety, professionalism, and cleanliness on-site; represent the company with pride.
  • Follow OSHA 10 guidelines and ensure installations align with industry and Instrata standards.
  • Work closely with Leads and Foremen to plan bonding, grounding, firestopping, and other key elements of the project.
What You Bring
  • 1–2 years of low-voltage installation experience in commercial construction
  • Knowledge of color codes (4- and 25-pair) and cable termination methods
  • Familiarity with cabling codes, standards, and tools for structured installations
  • Ability to interpret schematics and work independently or under guidance
  • Basic use of smartphones, tablets, and cable test equipment
  • Comfortable with Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet and other project tracking tools
Certifications & Requirements:
  • HighSchool Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
  • OSHA 10 Certification (required)
  • Valid, clean driver’s license
