Job summary

The Partnership for Maternal & Child Health of Northern New Jersey is seeking a Teen Health Educator to deliver engaging, age-appropriate health education to adolescents in schools, community centers, and youth-serving environments. You will lead interactive workshops, coordinate with schools and community partners, and promote topics such as mental health, nutrition, substance use prevention, and healthy relationships.

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; a public health background is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public health, health sciences, or related field; CHES preferred.
• Experience facilitating group presentations/workshops with community populations.
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
• Understanding of public health issues, trauma-informed care, and positive youth development preferred.
• Experience with teen populations preferred.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging educational presentations using TOP, PREP, and Teen Speak curricula.
• Coordinate Community Service Learning opportunities to cohorts.
• Maintain relationships with partner schools and community organizations.
• Administer and track data using forms and surveys (e.g., pre/post surveys, attendance).
• Conduct marketing and outreach for cohort recruitment.
• Promote teen health programs at health fairs, meetings, and events.
• Attend trainings, meetings, conferences, webinars, and activities.

Description

The Teen Health Educator is responsible for delivering engaging, age-appropriate health education to adolescents in schools, community centers, and other youth-serving environments. This role focuses on promoting physical, emotional, and social well-being among teens through interactive workshops, peer education, and outreach initiatives. The Teen Health Educator works collaboratively with youth, families, educators, and community partners to address topics such as mental health, nutrition, substance use prevention, sexual health, healthy relationships, and self-care.

Essential Functions

• Facilitate educational presentations utilizing the evidence-based curricula: TOP (in middle schools), PREP (in high schools), and Teen Speak (in CBOs or virtual platforms) throughout northern NJ
• Coordinate Community Service Learning (CSL) opportunities to cohorts (TOP and PREP)
• Maintain professional relationships with partner schools and organizations within target area
• Administer, gather, and track data for the project implementation and evaluation through the following forms: Parent Consent Forms and pre and post survey tools, TOP Club attendance tracking tools in the web-based Wyman Connect system, etc.
• Conduct necessary marketing and outreach for cohort recruitment
• Promote the teen health programs at health fairs, meetings and events throughout the year
• Attend all required TA/trainings, meetings, conference calls, webinars and activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with a concentration in public health, health sciences, or related fields is required, CHES is preferred
• Experience facilitating group presentations/workshops with community populations is required
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred
• Demonstrated understanding of public health issues is required, focus in protective factors, trauma-informed care, and positive youth development is preferred
• Experience working with teen populations is preferred
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
