Job summary

YMCA of Honolulu is seeking an Engagement Specialist to lead after-school clubs for grades 6–12 in Honolulu. You will design student-centered activities, promote youth voice, and connect with community partners to enrich programs.

The role emphasizes safety, inclusion, and professional conduct. Ideal candidates will have experience with youth instruction, strong communication skills, and the ability to develop engaging activities aligned to HIDOE standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in youth instruction or program facilitation is preferred.
  • Ability to implement engaging academic activities aligned to curriculum.
  • Provide strong customer service and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Age-appropriate curriculum knowledge per HIDOE standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create a positive, inclusive environment for youth and staff.
  • Support program improvements to enhance teen engagement and growth.
  • Communicate professionally with participants, parents, and colleagues.
  • Mentor junior staff and help with staff development.
  • Develop new teen-focused activities and events.
