Job summary

Toromont Cat is seeking a Technology Technician to join our Greenstone Mine team in Canada. You will install, commission, and support MineStar solutions, troubleshoot field technologies, and coordinate with maintenance to minimize production impact.

You will gain exposure to CAT equipment, receive ongoing internal training, and have opportunities for career growth within a leading industry dealer.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a technical role with troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Red Seal license for the position.
• Knowledge of MineStar, Linux/Ubuntu, Telnet, Tyresence, Trimble Business Center, Profinet, CanBus, and related IT tools.
• Experience in open pit or underground mining is an asset.
• Valid DZ or equivalent driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and implement MineStar Solutions (hardware/software/calibration).
• Troubleshoot software and components for MineStar technologies, including network, GNSS, autonomy, and onboard systems.
• Document actions/repairs/maintenance to minimize production impact.
• Coordinate with site maintenance/operations for technology maintenance.
• Monitor system health to ensure optimal operation.
• Collaborate with OST/St 90 technicians for mechanical troubleshooting as needed.

Toromont Cat is looking for a Technology Technician to join our Greenstone Mine! Reporting to the customer’s METSS Supervisor, you’ll work alongside customer technicians to troubleshoot, repairs, deploy and train on various technologies. Including, but not limited to;

• MineStar suite of technologies
• Product Link
• Payload systems
• Motion Metrics
• Hardline systems
• Other OEM reporting technologies

Compensation $41.17 - $51.46 The listed wage is just one component of our total rewards package, and eligibility to additional premiums may be available.

In a typical day, YOU will:

• Perform installation, commissioning and implementation of MineStar Solutions (hardware/software/calibration/processes)
• Perform software and component troubleshooting for all supported Mining technologies. Troubleshooting includes Network, Guidance System (using high precision GNSS), Autonomy and on-board machine and technology components
• Recommend and document actions/repairs/maintenance to resolve issues with minimal impact on customers’ production
• Provide expert advice and coordinate with site maintenance and operations teams for technology maintenance activities
• Perform regular system health monitoring to ensure optimal operation
• Occasionally perform basic mechanical tasks or troubleshooting activities in collaboration with technical teams working alongside current OST/St 90 technicians

Must-haves for this role:

• 5+ years of experience in a technical role that involves troubleshooting, diagnostics, and successful repair solutions (ex. Electrotechnician, IT Technician, GNSS, Instrumentation technician, Electronics, Agricultural Equipment, Heavy Equipment, etc.)
• Red Seal license relative to this position, following provincial standards
• Knowledge of IT solutions such as Linux, Ubuntu Operating Systems, FTP Programs, MineStar Solution, Telnet, Tyresence, Trimble Business Center, Profinet, CanBus, Data highway (PLC5), Data streaming (OMF) is considered an asset
• Experience in open pit and/or underground mining (an asset)
• A valid Driver's Licence (DZ Licence preferred)
• Flexible schedule availability, 14- & 21-day rotational schedules
• Ability to communicate in both English & French (a strong asset)
• Licensed/ticketed mechanic
• Comfortable with technology/ Tech-inclined
• Fast learner
