Job summary

Wiley|Wilson in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Technology Systems Project Designer to design telecommunications networks, structured cabling, AV, and electronic security systems for diverse building projects. You will collaborate with senior staff and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality designs and grow technical expertise.

The ideal candidate has 3-7 years of experience in the AEC industry, an Associate’s degree or higher, and proficiency in Autodesk Revit and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of experience designing telecommunications networks, structured cabling, AV, and electronic security for vertical building projects.
• AEC industry experience required.
• Associate degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design telecommunications networks, structured cabling, AV, and electronic security for a variety of projects.
• Develop and coordinate Revit models and construction documents.
• Collaborate with senior Technology Systems staff to deliver quality designs and develop technical expertise.
• Attend client and project meetings to coordinate items related to project scope and design; travel 10–15%.

The ideal candidate will design telecommunications networks, structured cabling systems, audio/visual systems, and electronic security systems for a variety of vertical building projects. This role involves collaborating with senior Technology Systems staff and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality designs while continuing to grow technical expertise. Strong time management, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach to learning and problem solving are critical to success in this role.

Requirements

Experience and Education

• Candidates must have 3-7 years of experience designing telecommunications networks, structured cabling systems, audio/visual systems, and electronic security systems for vertical building projects.
• Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry is required.
• An Associate's degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills

• Must be proficient in Autodesk Revit, including model setup, linking, navigation, and producing Technology Systems designs from project initiation through completion.
• Strong time management and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Proficient with MS Office suite of products

Interpersonal Skills

• Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a positive, proactive approach to problem solving and professional development.
• Must work effectively with Technology Systems team members, other design disciplines, subconsultants, and clients.

Eligibility

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance.

Desirable

• Experience with federal government projects.
• BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification or a desire to obtain the certification as part of professional development.
• AVIXA CTS certification or a desire to obtain the certification as part of professional development.

Responsibilities

• Design telecommunications networks, structured cabling systems, audio/visual systems, and electronic security systems for a variety of projects.
• Develop and coordinate Revit models and construction documents.
• Collaborate with senior Technology Systems staff to deliver quality designs and develop technical expertise.
• Attend client and project meetings to coordinate items related to project scope and design. Approximate travel requirement 10%-15%.
• Coordinate Technology Systems designs with other engineering and architectural disciplines.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with project quality standards, schedules, and budgets.
