Job summary

Summit Public Schools seeks a Technology Specialist to be the IT anchor at multiple school sites. You will deliver responsive support, maintain equipment, and partner with network leaders to implement innovative solutions that enhance learning environments.

The role requires travel across Summit sites and a focus on customer service, documentation, and reliable operations to keep classrooms connected and enabled for digital learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–4 years of tier-1/tier-2 IT support experience.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace administration, Windows, ChromeOS, Zoom, and basic networking.
  • Ability to travel regularly across Summit sites.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide rapid, responsive IT support across school sites.
  • Maintain laptops, AV equipment, projectors, printers, and access controls.
  • Manage site tech inventory with accurate records and warranties.
  • Administer Google Workspace, VMware, and content filtering tools.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity with central network team.
  • Lead high-priority technical projects and document processes.
  • Coordinate with vendors on service agreements.

The Technology Specialist is a key member of Summit's Technology Team. Based directly at our school sites in the San Francisco Bay Area or Seattle/Tacoma, they serve as the primary technical partner for educators and students—empowering our communities with seamless systems, responsive support, and modern tools that unlock student potential.

What You’ll Do:

The Technology Specialist serves as the primary technical partner and operational anchor across assigned school sites. In this role, you will deliver excellent customer support, maintain site infrastructure, manage IT inventory, and partner with network leaders to implement innovative technical solutions that enhance learning environments. Key responsibilities include:

Site Technical Support & User Experience

Serve as primary technical point of contact: Provide rapid, responsive, and relationship-driven technical support for all hardware, software, and systems across assigned school sites.

Maintain site equipment: Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain laptops (Windows PCs and Chromebooks), AV/video conferencing equipment, projectors, printers, and internet content filtering.

Support academic environments: Ensure technology availability for daily classroom instruction, digital learning platforms, and online student assessments.

Manage site tech inventory: Partner with school administrative teams to maintain accurate records, tracking, and warranty procedures for all site hardware.

Provide specialized event support: Deliver customized technology setup, testing, and live support for executive staff meetings and special school site events.

Administer core cloud platforms: Manage user accounts, access, and permissions within Google Workspace, VMware environments, and network content filtering tools.

Troubleshoot network infrastructure: Perform basic to advanced network troubleshooting in collaboration with the central network team to resolve connectivity issues and test enhancements.

Drive AI adoption & workflow automation: Support staff with emerging AI tools (specifically Gemini Pro) and assist in building automated workflows using Google Apps Script.

Lead operational projects: Own high-priority technical projects, document team processes, and implement system improvements that support site operations and academic outcomes.

Manage vendor coordination: Assist in managing local technology vendor relationships and service agreements in alignment with organizational standards.

What You Need:

A true passion for our organization's mission to empower all students with the skills necessary to succeed in college, career, and life.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

1–4 years of experience delivering tier-1/tier-2 IT support, troubleshooting devices (laptops, Chromebooks, printers, AV equipment), and managing helpdesk requests.

Demonstrated proficiency with Google Workspace/Google Apps administration, Windows OS, ChromeOS, Zoom, basic networking concepts, and foundational IT best practices.

Ability to regularly travel across assigned Summit school sites.

Physical ability to lift, move, and carry up to 35 lbs of equipment.

Must meet all health clearance requirements and successfully pass reference, background, and criminal history checks in accordance with applicable Education Code requirements.

The pay for this position starts at $67,903 and goes up to $85,303 commensurate with location, experience, and qualifications.
