Job summary

Qualifications

• 1.5–10 years’ experience in graphite processing, evaluation, characterization, and graphite application development in industrial, battery (energy storage), and defense sectors.
• Pilot plant commissioning, start-up, and operations.
• Ability to convert customer specifications into marketable products.
• Scale-up or industrialization (R&D to pilot plant to commercial plant) of graphite or specialty materials.
• Hands-on chemical R&D experience and familiarity with handling, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Advanced degree in chemical engineering / material science / related field.
• Strong project and people leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of interns(es), engineers to plan and execute R&D projects on time, budget, and with safety compliance; improve graphite products and scale laboratory processes up to manufacturing.
• Upgrade (as needed), maintain, and lead R&D facilities with strict adherence and compliance with environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines and laboratory protocols; manage relationships with site landlord as Site Manager.
• Based on customer feedback, improve product or optimize process, and lower cost; during scale-up, solve manufacturing or processing challenges.
• Collaborate with marketing, sales, supply chain, manufacturing, operations, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and other teams.
• Lead and/or participate in meetings with customers, government funding agencies (DOE, DOD, etc.), other stakeholders
