Job summary

Telios Corporation seeks a Technology/Low Voltage Designer to join our Technology team in Houston. This role designs and documents structured cabling, A/V, access control, video surveillance, and other low-voltage systems for healthcare, industrial, commercial, and education facilities.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent professional experience in telecommunications, low-voltage systems, engineering technology, drafting, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience designing low-voltage and technology systems for commercial buildings.
  • Working knowledge of structured cabling, audiovisual systems, access control, and video surveillance.
  • Proficiency with Revit.
  • Ability to develop construction drawings, riser diagrams, details, schedules, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with BICSI, TIA/EIA standards and building codes.
  • Strong coordination and documentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Design structured cabling, telecommunications, audiovisual, access control, and video surveillance for new construction and renovations.
  • Develop technology system layouts, floor plans, riser diagrams, details, schedules, and specifications.
  • Utilize Revit to create and maintain project models and construction documents.
  • Review drawings to coordinate technology with other building systems.
  • Participate in site visits and field investigations to document conditions and verify requirements.
  • Perform system sizing, equipment selection, device layouts, pathway design, and infrastructure planning.
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, owners, and vendors.
  • Assist with construction documents, technical specifications, and project deliverables.
  • Respond to RFIs, submittal reviews, and construction administration inquiries.
  • Ensure designs comply with building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Maintain project schedules and meet deadlines while managing multiple assignments.

Position:

Technology/Low Voltage Designer

Position Summary:

Telios is seeking a Technology / Low Voltage Designer to join our Technology team. This position is responsible for the design and documentation of structured cabling, audiovisual (A/V), access control, video surveillance, and other low-voltage systems for healthcare, industrial, manufacturing, commercial, higher education, and sports facilities.


The ideal candidate will be a production-focused designer who can translate client requirements, architectural drawings, and building models into complete, coordinated construction documents. This role requires strong technical design skills, proficiency in Revit, and the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and project teams throughout the design process.


It is expected that you will remain actively involved in continuing education and training of current design standards in the marketplace and design processes, including REVIT.


Responsibilities:


  • Design structured cabling, telecommunications, audiovisual, access control, video surveillance, and related technology systems for new construction and renovation projects

  • Develop technology system layouts, floor plans, riser diagrams, details, schedules, and specifications

  • Utilize Revit to create and maintain project models and construction documents

  • Review architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings to coordinate technology system designs with other building systems

  • Participate in site visits and field investigations to document existing conditions and verify project requirements

  • Perform system sizing, equipment selection, device layouts, pathway design, and technology infrastructure planning

  • Coordinate directly with project managers, architects, engineers, owners, and vendors during the design process

  • Assist with the preparation of construction documents, technical specifications, and project deliverables

  • Respond to contractor requests for information (RFIs), submittal reviews, and construction administration inquiries as assigned

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements

  • Maintain project schedules and meet established deadlines while managing multiple assignments


Minimum Criteria:


  • Associate's degree, technical degree, or equivalent professional experience in telecommunications, low-voltage systems, engineering technology, drafting, or a related field

  • Minimum 2 years of experience designing low-voltage and technology systems for commercial buildings

  • Working knowledge of structured cabling, audiovisual systems, access control, and video surveillance systems

  • Proficiency with Revit required

  • Ability to develop construction drawings, riser diagrams, details, schedules, and specifications

  • Familiarity with applicable industry standards, including BICSI, TIA/EIA, and relevant building codes.

  • Strong understanding of construction documents and building coordination practices

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality deliverables
