Job summary

Vanguard’s Technology Leadership Program in Risk & Security Engineering invites graduates to design secure software and infrastructure. You’ll rotate across teams, drive security controls, and address vulnerabilities while partnering with developers, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in secure coding, DevSecOps, identity management, and vulnerability remediation, with coaching and mentorship throughout the two-year program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, IST, IT, CIS, Security, Risk, Cybersecurity or related technical/engineering subject matter required.
  • Strong interest in software engineering with a focus on security and system protection.
  • Familiarity with programming concepts and a willingness to learn secure coding practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential, initiative, and ability to take ownership of work.
  • Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred.
  • Special Factors: Vanguard is not offering sponsorship for this position. This position will begin in 2027 and students graduating in December 2026 or Spring 2027 are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Gain exposure to secure software development practices, DevSecOps, and cybersecurity concepts.
  • Apply Agile methodologies to support development and security initiatives.
  • Take ownership of projects and contribute to delivering high-impact outcomes.
  • Collaborate across teams, share insights, and drive solutions in a supportive environment.
  • Build a network with program managers, alumni, senior leaders, and peers.
  • Meet regularly with your department manager and program manager to receive personalized coaching and mentorship.

Your work will focus on embedding security into applications and infrastructure - ensuring the systems that power Vanguard are resilient, reliable, and secure. Through real-world engineering assignments and collaboration with cross-functional teams, you’ll contribute to protecting Vanguard from evolving cyber threats while enabling innovation. Through technical capstones, hackathons, and hands‑on projects, you’ll strengthen your technical expertise while building your ability to collaborate, influence, and lead. The Technology Leadership Program is a two-year rotational development experience designed for graduating students ready to begin their careers in technology. Participants complete three eight-month rotations across Risk & Security Engineering-focused teams, gaining exposure to areas such as secure software development, DevSecOps, identity and access management, and vulnerability remediation - while increasing ownership, responsibility, and leadership capability over time.

In this program, you will:
