Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an entry-level Telecom Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team in Chicago, IL or Buffalo, NY. You will work under a project leader and licensed engineer on new construction and renovations across education, healthcare, sports, corporate, and science sectors.

You will help prepare construction documents and basic telecom specifications, with supervision, while growing your knowledge of applicable codes and engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree preferred; bachelor or master required by hire date.
  • EIT/FE certification preferred.
  • Related student internship experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate with teams.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the preparation of construction documents and basic specifications of telecommunications systems for building construction.
  • Under direct supervision, may design telecommunication systems for healthcare, education/higher education and commercial clients, per applicable codes.
  • Develop ability to analyze engineering documents and layout systems in regard to components and parts with engineering oversight.
  • Under supervision develop knowledge of applicable codes for the application of telecommunication design.
  • Recommend improvements with reference standards and processes to improve quality, coordination, and to streamline production efforts.
  • Assists in the review and markup of shop drawings and submittals.
  • Assists in gathering information to respond to RFI’s and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
  • Assists in visiting job site to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. Site visits frequently require a physical walk-through of site.
  • May perform other duties as required.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering required by hire date. Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
  • EIT/FE preferred.
  • Related student internship work experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
  • Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit, Navisworks or similar applications) preferred.

The salary range for this position to be filled in the Buffalo, NY or Chicago, IL office is $26.67 to $33.34 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
