This role covers IT structured cabling, AV, security, and other low‑voltage building systems.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or BIM certificate preferred.
  • 3+ years building design consulting or construction industry experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical low-voltage systems design for buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design and analysis of IT cabling, AV, and security systems.
  • Create designs, specifications, and calculations per code and IMEG standards.

In this role, you will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to help deliver engineering solutions and advice that drive positive outcomes for clients.You will support project execution from planning and documentation through coordination, quality control, budgeting, and client communication, while working across multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals and expectations. This role supports low-voltage technology work across education, institutional, and MEP markets, with a strong emphasis on healthcare, government, and communications, security, and AV systems.At a GlanceLocation: Chicago, Naperville, or Rock Island, IL; Des Moines, IA; Farmington Hills, MI; or Madison, WIDiscipline: TechnologyMarkets: Education; Institutional; MEPOwnership: 100% employee-owned (ESOP)Travel: Up to 50%Work Schedule: Hybrid and/or remote work schedule availableSponsorship: Not availableWhat You'll DoAssist in the design and analysis of IT structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other low-voltage building systems.Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects.Assist in project planning and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives.Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress.Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions, collaborating with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.Work within the project’s monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements.Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in low-voltage technology (ICT) engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work, identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with low-voltage technology ICT systems, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.What You'll BringRequired EducationAssociates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferredExperience3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industryRequired Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to electrical voltage and current, digital and analog signals, basic IT networking topologies and protocols, as it relates to electrical low-voltage systems design for buildingsKnowledge of industry standard engineering software and toolsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsEagerness to learn and adapt to new challengesBasic knowledge in the use of BIM softwareAbility to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookMust have the ability to travel up to 50%, including local, domestic, and international travel as needed for business purposes, which may include overnight stays and/or air travelAbout the TeamCore technology-engineering team, especially strong in healthcare, government, and institutional communications / security / AV systems.Healthcare technology, including hospitals, clinics, and EHRM-related scopesFederal and VA / USPS / military / airport technology programsTelecom, AV, security, and acousticsRecent work includes US Dept of Veterans Affairs / Syracuse, NY / EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades, Government / VA, and Texas Children’s Hospital / Houston, TX / Supply Chain Warehouse, Healthcare / Technology.Why IMEGWe put people at the center of who we are, creating positive outcomes for people, communities, and our planet.
