• Must be currently enrolled in a PhD graduate program in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support characterization of advanced semiconductor devices, passive components, and RF circuits.

We are seeking a highly motivated Summer Engineering Intern to join our Advanced Development Team, a group of device, process, and circuit design experts focused on developing state-of-the-art GaAs and InP technologies for high-frequency, high-power RF applications. This role combines semiconductor technology, data science, automation, and artificial intelligence to accelerate engineering innovation. The intern will work with device, process, and test engineers to develop AI-powered solutions for characterization, knowledge discovery, workflow automation, and technical reporting.

Assignment duration: 3 months during May - August 2027

Responsibilities

Required Experience and Skills

• Must be currently enrolled in a PhD graduate program, studying Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
• Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
• Interest in AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, and Generative AI.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.
• Knowledge of LLMs, AI agents, or RAG systems.
• Experience with laboratory automation and instrument control.
• Understanding of semiconductor devices, RF concepts, or manufacturing processes.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, SQL, or cloud data platforms.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
