Job summary

Jobtailor in Worcester, MA is seeking a dedicated ultrasound technologist with Breast Imaging expertise to join our radiology team. You will perform breast, vascular, obstetric, transplant, abdominal, and pediatric ultrasound exams, operate ultrasound equipment, and assist physicians with biopsies, all while maintaining patient-centered care.

The role requires ARDMS certification, 3 years in breast imaging, and proficiency with PACS, RIS, and Epic.

Qualifications

  • ARDMS Certification in Breast is required within 1 year of hire.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Breast Imaging setting.
  • Registration with ARDMS is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized and general ultrasound procedures according to departmental protocols.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment and perform portable exams in the Operating Room and Intensive Care Units.
  • Record images and produce hard copies where applicable.
  • Use RIS to schedule and complete exams; process labels, folders, and films.
  • Perform breast ultrasound exams and assist physicians with biopsies, aspirations, and other invasive procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms in compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
  • Position patients, monitor their condition, take vital signs as required, and respond to changes.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to provide required imaging views and additional scans.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, statistics, documentation, exam reporting, and billing compliance.
  • Operate PACS, RIS, and Epic.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and clean, safe, ready-to-use rooms.
  • Provide patient-centered care and explain procedures to patients.
  • Serve as a resource to sonographers, physicians, and students.
  • Support departmental workflow, schedule flexibility, and coverage needs.
  • Comply with departmental policies, quality improvement practices, health and safety requirements, and attendance expectations.

Job description

Requirements
  • Specialized post-secondary training equal to two years of college
  • Registration required by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Breast Imaging setting
  • ARDMS Certification in Breast required within 1 year of hire date
  • Associate’s degree or certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Ability to perform breast, vascular, obstetrical, transplant, abdominal, pediatric, and general ultrasound procedures
  • Proficiency operating ultrasound equipment and performing portable examinations
  • Experience with PACS, RIS, and Epic
  • Knowledge of patient positioning, patient monitoring, infection control, safety protocols, and accurate documentation
  • Ability to maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
  • Ability to comply with departmental policies, health and safety regulations, and hospital protocols
