Midland-Health-2 in Midland, TX seeks an Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging with a focus on patient safety and quality of care. The role requires licensure in good standing, ARDMS and/or ARRT credentials, and a commitment to continuing education.

You will operate ultrasound equipment, document findings, and collaborate with physicians and the health care team to support accurate diagnosis within scope of practice.

Qualifications

  • Must be in last semester of graduating or a graduate of an accredited ultrasound program and/or cross-trained from another allied health discipline.
  • ARDMS registered or eligible. First registry must be obtained within 1 year of employment. Second registry must be obtained within the second year of employment.
  • ARRT (R) (S) recognized, if above is not applicable.
  • Ultrasound Technologists who obtained credentials on the basis of another license in the medical field must maintain both licenses

Responsibilities

  • Practices technology founded upon theoretical knowledge and concepts, uses equipment and accessories consistent with the purposes for which they were designed, and employs procedures and techniques appropriately.
  • Assesses situations; exercises care, discretion, and judgment; assumes responsibility for professional decisions; and acts in the best interest of the patient.
  • Acts as an agent through observation and communication to obtain pertinent information for the physician to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient and recognizes that interpretation and diagnosis are outside the scope of practice for the profession.
  • The Ultrasound Technologist uses equipment and accessories, employs imaging and procedures, performs services in accordance with an accepted standard of practice, and demonstrates expertise in providing quality care to the patient, self, and other members of the healthcare team.

Job Description

The Ultrasound Technologist, with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. The Ultrasound Technologist functions under his or her own license and assumes accountability and responsibility for quality of care provided to patients and their families according to the standards of practice. The Ultrasound Technologist demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in practice, and develops insight through reflection, self-analysis, self-care, and lifelong learning.

SHIFT AND SCHEDULE

(examples: original license requires licensure from TDH, it must be maintained. If the original license requires from ARRT, it must be obtained).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff.
