Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Oregon is seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to assist credentialed providers during CVL procedures, monitor hemodynamic activity, and ensure high-quality imaging in a fast-paced lab.

You will scrub, monitor/record, and x-ray for CVL cases, prepare sterile fields, manage equipment, and support patient safety. On-call commitment requires on-site response within 30 minutes.

Qualifications

  • 12 months of CVL/EP/Neuro IR or related procedural experience within the last 3 years.
  • Successful completion of an accredited radiologic technology program (ARRT).
  • Current radiologic technologist license or national certification and related cardiovascular certifications within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Scrub, monitor/recorder, and x-ray technician for CVL procedures as assigned.
  • Prepare patients and maintain sterile field; assist with hemodynamic monitoring and data recording.
  • Operate lab equipment, perform life-support tasks when needed, and respond to on-call within 30 minutes.

Job Summary:

Assists credentialed provider with all diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic procedures within the cardiac and vascular laboratory environments. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes teamwork and reflects KPNW mission and philosophy goals. Works under direct supervision of a credentialed provider.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Monitors radiation safety and completes the necessary administrative tasks to ensure proper documentation and compliance. Actively performs quality assurance functions of x-ray equipment and protective garments/accessories, trouble shoots equipment problems and initiates vendor service call. Assists hospital radiation safety officer in survey and compliance documentation for the CVLs. Familiarity with use of IVUS, Site Rite, Atherectomy Devices, Pacemakers/ICDs, and Coronary Angiograms/Interventions.
  • Serves as 1) scrub, 2) monitor/recorder, and 3) x-ray technician, for all CVL procedures as assigned by the Charge RN or the management team. Prepares and positions patients for invasive procedures. Assists with cardiovascular tests and record patients hemodynamic activity using specialized electronic test equipment, recording devices and laboratory instruments. Obtains hemostasis at arterial and venous access sites post-procedure, including removal of sheaths and safe management of hemostatic devices. Familiarity with PACS image retrieval for presentation during active cases. Sets up, maintains, and troubleshoots all equipment used in procedures when required. Recognizes cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms and alerts credentialed provider and other team members during procedures and according to protocol.
  • Administers intra-coronary and/or intra-arterial medications under direct supervision of the physician. Prepares and maintains sterile field using aseptic technique for procedures. Supports the physician in the sterile field as a scrub by assisting, preparing, and maintaining the sterile field using aseptic technique for all CVL procedures as assigned by the Charge Nurse or management team. Prepares, maintains, and operates hemodynamic and monitoring equipment. Performs basic and advanced life support when required, including defibrillation. Maintains proficiencies to perform point of care tests on lab equipment such as activated clotting time (ACT), oxygen saturations, glucose testing, and arterial blood gases (ABG). Performs patient teaching of procedures. Works on call and is required to respond on-site within 30 minutes of call. Restocks supplies, maintains clean work area; file room work area. Assists with transportation of patients.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
  • Minimum twelve (12) continuous months of cardiac cath lab, EP, Neuro IR, and/or Special procedures work experience within the last three (3) years.
Education
  • Successful completion of an accredited program in radiologic technology (ARRT).
License, Certification, Registration
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (Washington) OR Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License (Oregon)

  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist Certificate within 12 months of hire OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certificate within 12 months of hire OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Vascular Interventional Radiography within 12 months of hire from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Cardiac Interventional Radiography within 12 months of hire from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

  • NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 6 months of hire

  • Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 2 months of hire

  • Basic Life Support within 1 months of hire
Additional Requirements:
  • Proof of continuing education to maintain registry.
  • Demonstrates customer-focused service skills.
  • Ability to use and apply excellent communication and interpersonal skills with peers and administration.
  • Performs all functions at a high level of competence without direct supervision.
  • Stays proficient and competent in the following assignments, but not limited to, 1) scrub, 2) monitor/recorder, and 3) x-ray technician, for all related KPNW CVL department/unit cases and procedures.
  • As well as other related KPNW CVL department/unit assigned duties as required by the management team.
  • Must be able to comply with departmental policy for 30-minute response time for after-hour call backs.
