Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (MLS) to join our microbiology team at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's - Woman's Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

This role supports high-volume testing and requires a solid background in chemical or biological science and MLS credentials. You will work first shift 7am-3:30pm, perform routine and complex procedures, monitor instrumentation, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver accurate test results and quality patient

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or an MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine acceptability of specimens for testing.
• Perform routine and complex procedures per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results for quality patient care.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies.
• Assist with processing specimens as needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and PPE as required.

LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (MLS) to join our microbiology team at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's - Woman's Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Work Schedule:

1st shift; 7am - 3:30pm Monday to Friday with rotating weekends and holiday rotation.

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor?s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year or more of experience working in microbiology as a MLS
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may be enrolled to education requirement
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Proficient with computersHigh level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
