Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking an IRL Technologist to perform automated and manual tests on donor and patient blood samples, ensuring accurate crossmatching and compatibility reports. You will handle specimen receipt, shipping coordination, and instrument maintenance while maintaining documentation and quality standards.

Required are a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Chemistry and MT/ASCP certification, with at least one year of related experience.

Qualifications

• MT/MLS certification and degree required.
• Minimum 1 year related lab experience.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform automated and manual test procedures on blood samples.
• Manage receipt, coordination, shipment, and transport of donor/patient samples; document issues.
• Manage reagent inventory: ordering, receiving, inspection and preparation.
• Recognize irregularities and assist other Medical Technologists in resolution.
• Consult with staff at other facilities to resolve complex serologic problems.
• Perform manufacturing duties for special blood products when applicable.
• On-call duties and standard schedule as listed.
