Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. The role involves determining specimen acceptability, performing routine and complex procedures, and troubleshooting instrumentation to ensure accurate test results.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science (or MLS degree) and the ability to work independently and in a team. Training and shift schedules are provided, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• One year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Overtime required as needed. Training Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday: 8:00 - 4:30 pm.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
• One year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualification

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
