Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team in Houston, TX. The role supports testing workflows across chemistry and biology disciplines, with shifts Wednesdays to Sundays from 12:00AM to 8:30AM and a focus on accurate results and safety.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in a chemical or biological science and at least 1 year of lab testing experience, with ASCP or AMT certification preferred. Proficiency with lab information systems and dependable teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Work Schedule:

Job Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualification

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
