Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. seeks an experienced Electronics Test Technician to join the Avionics team in the PWA test group. You will set up, run, and analyze tests on electronic assemblies and troubleshoot faults using DMMs, oscilloscopes, and LabVIEW.

The role requires seven+ years of experience, an associate degree or equivalent, and the ability to work under high-energy and high-voltage conditions. DoD security clearance is required to support national defense programs.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent with 7+ years of experience (or equivalent).
  • Training/experience in test or experimental operations (military or technical schools desirable).
  • Strong Windows 10 knowledge and terminology.
  • Experience collecting/analyzing data for troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Ability to collaborate with test engineering to resolve complex failures and develop new test procedures.
  • Willingness to work on systems with unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, cryogens, or radioactive materials.
  • Knowledge of advanced electronics.
  • Knowledge of equipment: Oscilloscope, Voltmeter, DMM, Function Generator, network/spectrum analyzers, LabVIEW, ICD/CPLD/J-Link programming.
  • Test, troubleshoot and repair RF-related issues; provide technical assistance to engineers and teammates.
  • Ability to read/interpret technical manuals; high attention to detail; flexible to management changes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist team members and escalate complex issues to supervisors.
  • Provide guidance and training to Electronics Test Technicians on procedures and equipment.
  • Oversee use of materials and test tools to maximize efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned; support diverse and inclusive workplace.

If you are an experienced Electronics Test Technician, we are looking for you to join our Avionics team in the PWA test group!

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up, perform, and analyze experiments and tests according to pre-arranged product test procedures and record results and findings into product test records.
  • Analyze and diagnose faults in the operational configuration of electronics systems and equipment to the PWA level.
  • Working knowledge of electronic schematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, block diagrams, and technical publications to repair electronic assemblies.
  • Capable of operating test equipment such as; digital multi-meters (DMMs), O-scopes, power supplies, and signal generators to accomplish specific tasks such as analysis, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic and integrated circuits to the component.
  • Assist team members in resolving technical challenges and elevate complex issues to Supervisor when necessary.
  • Provides guidance and training to Electronics Test Technicians in establishing operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures and techniques.
  • Oversee the appropriate use of materials, test equipment, and tools to maximize efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with seven or more years of experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education
  • Training and/or experience in test or experimental operations normally acquired in the military or technical schools desirable.
  • In depth understanding of Windows 10 operating system and terminology.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data used for troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Ability to collaborate with test engineering to resolve complex failures/issues and to develop new test procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials.
  • Knowledge of advanced Electronics
  • Knowledge using equipment: Oscilloscope, Voltmeter, Digital multimeter, Function Generator, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, Labview, Programming (ICD 2/3/4, CPLD, and J-link)
