Job summary

Blue Origin, Merritt Island, FL, is seeking an experienced fabrication and assembly technician to work on large structural components, drilling, grinding, shimming, and tool installation.

The role requires blueprint interpretation (GD&T), use of torque wrenches and precision tools, and the ability to work in elevated or confined spaces. Multiple shifts available.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of fabrication and assembly of large structural components involving drilling, grinding, shimming, fastening, and torquing.
  • Install fluid and pneumatic components with precision.
  • Inspect all components and assemblies for blueprint conformance, including interpreting GD&T.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align work priorities with schedules and goals.
  • Ensure product quality and adherence to engineering specifications.
  • Facilitate design improvements for tooling fabrication.
  • Implement safety and efficiency enhancements in the assembly process.
  • Support mission objectives through dedicated duties.
  • Work in elevated or confined spaces as needed.

Shift Details

Multiple shifts available:

  • A Shift: Mon-Fri 6:00 am - 4:30 pm
  • B Shift: Mon-Fri 4:00 pm - 2:30 am
  • C Shift: Fri-Sun 6:00 am - 6:30 pm
  • D Shift: Fri-Sun 6:00 pm - 6:30 am
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Perform all aspects of fabrication and assembly of large structural components involving drilling, grinding, shimming, fastening, and torquing.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Over 2 years of experience in tooling fabrication and assembly, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Strong blueprint interpretation skills specific to tool assembly.
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic and effective communication abilities in fast-paced team environments.
  • Customer-focused mindset with proven teamwork skills across teams.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills to manage complex projects independently.
  • Familiarity with precision tools such as torque wrenches and micrometers.
  • Experience working with heavy equipment like cranes and forklifts.
  • Advanced mechanical assembly skills in hardware installation and tooling assembly, including working with large structural components involving drilling, fastening, grinding, shimming, among others.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Exposure to large tooling components.
  • Flexibility to work off-hours, overtime, or weekends if required.
  • Basic computer literacy, including knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office suites.
  • Previous experience in a variety of manual or CNC machining equipment/processes, including lathes, and milling machines.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
