Job description

WORK SHIFT: Second Shift (United States of America). This hands‑on position will supervise and direct all levels of Composite (Pultrusion) set‑up technicians and any persons in contact with Pultrusion molds and molding process. The role is responsible for mold changes (scheduling staff), mold process control, mold change component inventory, productivity, part quality, safety, cleanliness and organization. The supervisor must review the daily production schedule and set priorities based on customer requirements and resources available, coordinate activities with other positions in the Composite molding department and with supporting department personnel, and serve as the key trainer for all new technicians in the use and setup of Pultrusion molding machines and equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Hands‑on supervision, providing assistance with all aspects of molding.
  • Supervisory responsibility for up to 15 employees.
  • Works effectively as a member of a team and autonomously, often in a limited supervisory role.
  • Willing to learn and adapt to new methods, procedures, principles, disciplines, goals and objectives.
  • Leads, trains, identifies equipment issues, and motivates personnel as required.
  • Completes administrative duties of an area supervisor (reporting, review, MOS procedures, disciplinary write‑ups, training and time studies).
  • Sets up, starts up, processes, and troubleshoots various types of thermoset Pultrusion molds, machines and resins to ensure quality production.
  • Assists with material handling, blending, maintenance, assembly, packaging and inventory control when needed.
  • Supports management, engineering, mold maintenance, scheduling and quality control departments in conducting mold/material testing.
  • Monitors and enforces department safety and production procedures.
  • Communicates with prior and oncoming shifts to provide work assignments and expectations to achieve production plans.
  • Maintains reliable attendance and punctuality to meet department and organizational needs.
  • Executes all essential duties satisfactorily to perform the job successfully.
  • Follows all safety procedures, wears PPE as required, attends safety meetings and reports safety issues.
  • Operates effectively as a team member, offers feedback and treats everyone with respect.
  • Takes ownership of work and behavior, accepts accountability, encourages solutions and communicates status of work or projects.
  • Follows department quality standards and raises concerns to immediate manager.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area and resolves housekeeping issues with other shifts.
  • Can perform packaging duties if required to support the production department.
  • May act as backup manager when manager is out.
  • Willing to work overtime, remain flexible, and accommodate schedule changes to meet business needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent knowledge of the Pultrusion molding process, materials, molds, and machinery.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and record keeping of test/run data.
  • Reasoning ability and communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Trained to handle emergency response and first aid situations.
  • Certification for forklift is desirable but not required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a group of people to accomplish predetermined goals.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of WIP Assembler, Machine Operator, and Set‑up Technician levels.
  • Bi‑Lingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Two years of Composite molding experience specifically in set‑up, start‑up, and processing of thermoset Pultrusion molding.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
  • Certificates, licenses, registrations pertaining to job function desirable.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands include walking, standing, bending at the neck and waist, squatting, twisting at the neck and waist, repetitive use of hands, simple grasping, power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, reaching above and below the shoulder, carrying or lifting up to 50‑75 lbs. Workers may drive cars, trucks, forklifts and other equipment, work around machinery, be exposed to excessive noise, dust, gas, fumes or chemicals, use visual or auditory protective equipment, and operate foot controls. PPE requirements include safety glasses, utility gloves, steel‑toe slip‑resistant shoes, hearing protection, and face shields or goggles in specified areas.

COMPENSATION RANGE

$33.93 - $36.00 salary may vary based on experience.
