Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Aerospace Structures Assembly Technician for Space Coast, FL. You will fabricate, assemble, and align aerospace components according to engineering instructions, drilling precision holes and ensuring tight tolerances across aluminum, titanium, Inconel, and composites.

Responsibilities include surface prep, finishing, and fixture setup, using torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers to maintain safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing or related field.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with precision calibration and measurement tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, assemble, and align aerospace components per engineering instructions and specifications.
  • Drill precision holes using power feed, track, and hand drills; maintain tight tolerances across metals and composites.
  • Prepare and treat surfaces for assembly, including cleaning, marking, and sealant/primer application.
  • Fixture components using jigs and tooling for accurate alignment during assembly.
  • Operate calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers to ensure quality and safety.
  • Inspect assemblies, identify discrepancies, and perform repairs or modifications as required.
  • Support continuous improvement and uphold 5S in the work area.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes.

Position Specific Details
  • Shifts: A | Mon-Fri (6am-2:30pm), B | Mon-Fri (2pm-10:30pm), C | Fri-Sun (6am-6:30pm), D | Fri-Sun (6pm - 6:30am)
  • Location: Space Coast, FL

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, assemble, and align structural aerospace components according to engineering instructions and specifications.
  • Drill precision holes using power feed, track, and hand drills; maintain strict quality tolerances and proper angularity across aluminum, titanium, Inconel, and composite materials.
  • Prepare and treat surfaces for assembly and finishing, including cleaning, part marking, and application of sealants, adhesives, paints, and primers.
  • Fixture and secure components using jigs and specialized tooling to ensure accurate alignment during assembly.
  • Operate calibrated tools and measurement devices such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Inspect assemblies, identify discrepancies, and execute repairs or modifications as required.
  • Proactively support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a safe, organized work area in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes and resolve technical challenges.
  • Manage handling and integration of both flight and non-flight hardware throughout the production lifecycle.
  • Document work performed and communicate promptly with engineering and quality teams.
Team Focus & Domain Expertise

The Structures assembly team at Blue Origin plays a pivotal role in advancing the efficiency and reliability of aerospace components through cutting edge assembly methods. As part of a large, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will manufacture, assemble, hardware on the first stage of our premier launch vehicle, New Glenn. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of transforming the way our tanks are made and integrated. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience Levels with aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another related field. (0-3 years Level I Technician, 3+ Level II Technician, 5+ Level III Technician, 8+ SR Level Technician)
  • Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with precision calibration and measurement tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights (stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.
  • Familiarity with adhesives, sealants, fasteners, and general cleanliness/5S principles.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Windows, Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Skilled in use of hand drills, power feed drills, track drills, Jiffy/E-Tech tools, and drilling jigs/bomb sites for hand placement of holes.
  • Understanding of drill speeds, feeds, hole tolerances, and angularity for various aerospace materials.
  • Demonstrated experience in surface preparation (clean as you go), part marking, and finishing techniques.
  • Experience in sealing, bonding, painting, and priming for aerospace applications.
  • Ability to manage and assemble both flight and non-flight hardware.
  • Skilled in handling large aerospace components and assembling tight-tolerance structures.
  • Trade school training, industry certifications, or a relevant technical degree.
  • Record of success as a hands-on doer or technical leader.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments with evolving responsibilities.
  • Mentality for continuous improvement and process optimization.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction or prototype builds.
