Job summary

KBR's Buffalo-based Quality Inspector role supports Aerospace Source Inspection at supplier facilities, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, drawings, and quality systems. This field-based position requires travel to supplier locations throughout Buffalo and surrounding areas.

The candidate should have strong inspection experience, read engineering documentation, and interact professionally with customers and suppliers while maintaining safety and continuous improvement practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of quality inspection experience in aerospace, manufacturing, electronics, or related field.
• U.S. Citizenship required due to customer requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, blueprints and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of quality systems, inspection methodologies, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience using standard inspection and measurement tools.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage travel schedules effectively.
• Must successfully complete and maintain customer and KBR qualification requirements, including vision exams, GD&T exam, and other technical evaluations as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct source inspections at supplier facilities.
• Verify compliance with customer requirements, engineering drawings, specifications, purchase order requirements and applicable industry standards.
• Perform visual, dimensional and documentation inspections.
• Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gages, thread gages, and other inspection tools.
• Verify calibration and certification status for inspection equipment.
• Review manufacturing and quality documentation including certifications, travelers, inspection reports, material traceability, and test data.
• Complete inspection reports and documentation accurately and within required timelines.
• Communicate professionally with suppliers, customers, and internal KBR personnel regarding inspection status and quality concerns.
• Maintain all required qualifications, certifications, training, and medical requirements, including annual vision examinations, certification renewals, and mandatory compliance training.
• Support a culture of safety and operational excellence through participation in near-miss reporting, continuous improvement initiatives, and other company directed activities.
