Job summary

Orca Bio is seeking a Technician for Quality Control on the Day Shift in Sacramento, performing basic to moderately complex analytical tests in a GMP environment. You will document results, maintain equipment, and support assay transfers while collaborating with Manufacturing, QC, and QA to uphold the highest quality standards. Qualifications include A.S.

or B.S. in a relevant science, 20/20 vision, cleanroom gowning capability, and willingness to work weekends or overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have visual acuity of 20/20 and color vision for inspection in GMP environment.
  • Able to meet cleanroom gowning requirements and wear PPE for extended periods.
  • Based in Sacramento with flexibility to work at multiple Orca Bio locations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Willingness to work overtime or on weekends as needed.
  • Preferred: experience with analytical assays (flow cytometry, ELISA, PCR).
  • Preferred: familiarity with aseptic techniques in biotech settings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to moderately complex analytical tests following cGMP guidelines.
  • Test routine and non-routine samples; document results accurately.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment to ensure functionality.
  • Prepare reagents and aliquot samples using aseptic techniques when needed.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of lab supplies.
  • Support assay transfers, validations, and equipment qualifications.
  • Aliquot samples as required, including aseptic aliquoting.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, QC, and QA to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Follow all cGMP documentation and procedural standards.
  • Perform additional duties to support the Quality team.

Job description

Technician, Quality Control – Day Shift conducts routine and non‑routine testing to ensure the highest quality standards in our cell therapy manufacturing facility. Your work will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and safety of our cell therapy products.

Day Shift Hours Worked
  • 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. or 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Work Week Schedule
  • Sunday, Monday, Tuesday + every other Wednesday or Thursday, Friday, Saturday + every other Wednesday
Qualifications
  • Must have visual acuity of 20/20 (corrected or uncorrected) and normal color vision to safely perform critical tasks such as visual inspection of materials, equipment, and labeling, including distinguishing color‑coded components in a GMP environment.
  • Must be able to meet cleanroom gowning requirements, including wearing full gowning (face coverings, gloves, hoods, goggles) for extended periods, as needed. Use of cosmetics, jewelry, or facial piercings is not permitted in the cleanroom; any skin conditions that cause shedding must be disclosed.
  • Must be able to work at either Orca Bio Sacramento location (3400 Business Dr. or 7910 Metro Air Pkwy) based on operational needs.
  • Must be comfortable regularly participating in video‑based meetings.
  • May be required to work scheduled overtime, weekends, or holidays based on business needs.
  • A.S. or B.S. in a relevant scientific discipline (biology, microbiology, etc.) required.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, regulated setting.

The anticipated annual salary range for this job is based on prior experience in the role/industry, education, location, internal equity, and other job‑related factors as permitted by law. For remote‑based positions, this range may vary based on your local market.
