Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care in Mississippi is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician to perform defined laboratory procedures and report results, ensuring accurate and timely patient outcomes.

You will receive, identify, organize, and prioritize specimens, perform quality control, and maintain equipment while complying with safety and regulatory standards. AAS/Military equivalence with certification within six months is required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or military equivalent is required.
  • National certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • Military training provides alternative qualifications for consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
  • Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
  • Performs quality control, proficiency testing and routine instrument maintenance and inventory control and document as required.
  • Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
  • Assesses, evaluates and draws appropriate conclusions.
  • Follows regulatory requirements, competency requirements and maintains safe laboratory practice.
  • Completes assigned goals.

Job Summary

Utilizes laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures assuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsible for assigned shifts and subject to overtime and call back as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
