Job summary

First Solar is seeking a capable maintenance technician to perform on-site facility, equipment, and grounds maintenance in a cost-efficient manner. You will read electrical and mechanical drawings and work with the CMMS to log data and track repairs.

Candidates should have a HS diploma with 3+ years maintenance experience (or related field), and a journeyman card is preferred. The role requires strong safety practices and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED with 3+ years maintenance experience, or 5+ years in a related field.
• Journeyman’s Card from an accredited apprenticeship program preferred.
• Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and CMMS is a plus.
• Ability to read electrical & mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
• Proven communications skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Accomplishes daily assignments as scheduled and as directed.
• Performs on-site service and repair of equipment.
• Meet at least 90% of Estimated Repair Times.
• Collaborates with other departments and follows OSHA/EPA safety practices.
• Identifies opportunities for cost savings and may train other employees.
• Potential to fill in as Team Lead if needed.
• Manage waste generated from work and ensure PPE compliance.

Basic Job Functions:

• Performs, as directed, all necessary maintenance of the facility, equipment, and grounds, in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma/GED and 3+ years maintenance experience, OR
• High school diploma/GED and 5+ years of experience in a related field, OR
• High school diploma/GED and 2-year technical school & 3+ years’ experience.
• Journeyman’s Card from an accredited apprentice ship program preferred.

Required Skills/Competencies:

• Knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
• Knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of CMMS is a plus but not required if coming in from the outside. Internal candidates need to know the CMMS system.
• Project Leader experiences a plus.
• Proven Communications Skills
• Ability to read prints and suggest modifications as required.
• Proven Electro/Mechanical skills.
• Knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical, Vacuum Systems and Robotic.
• Ability to follow Safe Work Practices.
• Full understanding of LOTO
• Ability to work independently with no supervision.
• Capable of troubleshooting to the systems level.
• Full knowledge of all PM’s
• Must be capable of pulling reports and entering data or pass downs into/from the CMMS system.

Essential Responsibilities:

• If no tech III is available may be asked to fill in as Team Lead.
• Ability to read electrical & mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
• Responsible for adherence to all safety procedures, good housekeeping standards, and the wearing of PPE.
• Notify EHS Department if there are questions or concerns with the management of hazardous waste.
• Responsible to manage waste generated from any work that is performed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to steel-toed shoes, cut-resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection & respirators) as a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
