First Solar Inc. in Gaffney, SC is seeking a Technician- Maintenance II for the C Crew on the AM shift. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility equipment, read electrical/mechanical drawings, and ensure safe operations.

The role requires 3+ years of maintenance experience or related alternatives, with CMMS familiarity preferred. You will work with cross-functional teams, meet tight repair targets, and participate in safety programs while supporting cost-saving

Qualifications

Journeyman’s Card from an accredited apprentice ship program preferred
Knowledge of manufacturing equipment

CMMS knowledge is a plus
Strong communication skills
Ability to read prints and suggest modifications
Electro/Mechanical skills
Electrical, Mechanical, Vacuum Systems and Robotic knowledge

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance on facility, equipment, and grounds in a timely, cost-efficient manner.
Meet 90% of estimated repair times.
Perform on-site service and repair of equipment.
Collaborate with other departments.
Train other employees if needed.
Possibly act as Team Lead when required.
Read electrical and mechanical drawings and manuals.
Manage CMMS data and pass downs.
Identify cost-saving opportunities.
Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma/GED and 3+ years maintenance experience, OR

Accomplishes daily assignments as scheduled and as directed.

Must meet at least 90% of Estimated Repair Times.
Collaborates with other departments.
Follows standard OSHA, EPA, and Company safe practices on all work assignments.
Identifies and recommends opportunities for cost savings.
May be asked to train other employees.
If no tech III is available may be asked to fill in as Team Lead.
Ability to read electrical & mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
Responsible for adherence to all safety procedures, good housekeeping standards, and the wearing of PPE.
Notify EHS Department if there are questions or concerns with the management of hazardous waste.
Responsible to manage waste generated from any work that is performed.

This position will not have direct reports.

Travel:

No travel is required.

If hired during plant start up, you will be expected to travel to other First Solar locations for training.

Estimated Salary Range:

$25.50 - $32.72, Hourly

US Physical Requirements:

Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
Will climb stairs or steps on a frequent basis.
Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
Will push or pull up to 50 pounds of force on an occasional basis.

May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to: steel-toed shoes, cut-resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection & respirators) as a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
