Job description

The Technician III is the most senior level in the Technician career path and serves as a technical expert and team lead. Working independently with minimal supervision, the Technician III performs advanced and complex technical work across one or more diagnostic imaging modalities - including complex harvesting, testing, repair, and installation - and is recognized as a subject-matter expert (SME).

At this level, the technician exercises independent judgment to resolve non-routine and complex problems, leads or coordinates a modality as needed, mentors and trains Technician I and II staff, and serves as a primary resource for team questions. The Technician III drives quality and continuous improvement and partners with the Modality Lead and cross-functional teams, escalating only the most complex or strategic issues. This level reflects deep expertise and readiness to take on lead responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Independently perform advanced and complex technical work with minimal supervision.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert (SME) and primary technical resource for assigned modalities.
  • Lead or coordinate a modality as needed, organizing work and supporting team priorities.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex, non-routine system and parts issues.
  • Interpret test results to determine part functionality, quality, and appropriate disposition.
  • Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to Technician I and II staff.
  • Answer team questions and serve as an escalation point below the Modality Lead.
  • Execute complex part-level repairs and support or oversee system installation activities.
  • Drive quality, consistency, and continuous-improvement initiatives within scope.
  • Accurately document all work performed and review documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Escalate only the most complex, non-standard, or strategic issues to the Modality Lead.
  • Create, review, and update work instructions and other quality related documents as well as following all processes to ensure ISO 13485 compliance.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience
  • Associate degree in Biomedical Electronics, Electronics, or a related technical field preferred.
  • 4+ years of diagnostic imaging service or in-house technical experience.
  • Primary expertise in at least one imaging modality (e.g., MRI, CT, X-ray, Ultrasound); multi-modality expertise strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Deep, working-to-advanced knowledge of imaging system architecture and parts across one or more modalities.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex, non-routine issues.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound, independent judgment.
  • Recognized subject-matter expertise and the ability to serve as a team technical resource.
  • Ability to lead or coordinate a modality and to mentor and train less-experienced technicians.
