Job summary

ACIS is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician II to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair VRF/VRV systems in commercial facilities across California. You will diagnose complex faults, perform advanced repairs, and conduct preventive maintenance while reading detailed wiring diagrams and coordinating with service teams.

You must have 6–10+ years of hands-on experience, EPA refrigerant certification, and manufacturer-specific training (Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, LG, or equivalent).

Qualifications

• 6-10+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC experience servicing and maintaining VRF/VRV systems.
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification and a valid driver’s license.
• Manufacturer-specific training or certifications (Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, LG, or similar).
• Advanced ability to read electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and control sequences.
• Strong knowledge of BAS, DDC, and HVAC controls integration.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical HVAC faults including refrigerant circuits, variable-speed compressors, EEVs, sensors, controls and communication systems.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on VRF/VRV systems, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, performance testing, and operational checks for reliable operation.
• Test and verify control logic, sensors, networks, and BAS/DDC integration.
• Adjust and optimize system performance for energy efficiency, comfort, reliability and equipment life.
• Read and interpret detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, piping diagrams, and manufacturer documentation.
• Maintain accurate service records, diagnostic findings, repair documentation and equipment history.
• Clearly communicate technical findings and recommended repairs to customers and internal teams.
• Work safely and professionally, demonstrating craftsmanship and customer service.
• Coordinate daily schedule with Service Coordinator and maintain company tools.
• Complete timecards, service activities, and inspection reports.
• Collaborate with team members to proactively develop solutions to client problems.

Description

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair VRF/VRV systems on commercial office buildings, healthcare facilities, industrial plants, data centers, and critical cooling facilities. Technician II brings the ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair package units, split systems, and water source heat pumps. Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams. Conduct work exhibiting a professional demeanor and tactful and courteous communication with a diverse client base.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical HVAC faults, including issues involving refrigerant circuits, variable-speed compressors, electronic expansion valves (EEVs), sensors, controls, and communication systems.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on VRF/VRV systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, system inspections, performance testing, and operational checks to ensure reliable and efficient system operation.
• Test and verify control logic, sensors, communication networks, and BAS/DDC integration.
• Adjust and optimize system performance to maximize energy efficiency, comfort, reliability, and equipment life.
• Accurately read and interpret detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, piping diagrams, and manufacturer documentation.
• Maintain accurate and detailed service records, diagnostic findings, repair documentation, and equipment history.
• Clearly communicate technical findings, recommended repairs, and system conditions to customers, building owners, facility managers, and internal teams.
• Demonstrate strong independent troubleshooting skills while maintaining a high standard of safety, workmanship, professionalism, and customer service.
• Arrange and communicate daily schedule with Service Coordinator
• Coordinate and maintain company-issued tools and equipment
• Complete accurate timecards, service activities, and inspection reports
• Collaborate with other team members, including Service Coordinators and Service Supervisors, to proactively anticipate and develop solutions to client problems.

Requirements

• 6-10+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC experience, with demonstrated and documented expertise servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining VRF/VRV systems.
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification and a valid driver’s license required.
• Manufacturer-specific training or certifications, including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, LG, or comparable VRF/VRV systems, is highly preferred.
• Advanced ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and control sequences.
• Strong knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Direct Digital Controls (DDC), and HVAC controls integration.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in confined spaces, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and extreme temperature environments.
• Physically capable of lifting and maneuvering heavy equipment, tools, and HVAC components as required.
• Provide basic hand tools, i.e. gauges, meter, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, etc.
• Actively seek training, coaching, and expand knowledge of the industry
• Flexibility to work overtime and weekends, as needed
