West Side Transport Inc is seeking a Tech Level II — Tractor/Trailer Technician in Cedar Rapids, IA. This full-time role focuses on preventive maintenance and accurate diagnosis per work orders and DOT standards.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years in Class 8 maintenance, strong diagnostic skills, and tools to perform engine, brake, HVAC, and aftertreatment repairs. Safety and documentation are emphasized in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two or more years of Class 8 maintenance experience.
• Ability to read, interpret, and complete work orders.
• Possession of a roll tool chest and personal hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on tractors and trailers to maintain compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Diagnose problem areas and identify needed maintenance from work orders, driver reports, and inspection findings.
• Diagnose and repair brake systems, including air brake chambers and ABS.
• Perform engine and transmission diagnostics and repairs.
• Diagnose and repair air conditioning systems.
• Diagnose and repair aftertreatment systems, including DEF and DPF.
• Service and repair wheel bearings, wheel seals, and tires.
• Repair trailer components, including dollies, doors, door seals, and lights.
• Perform tractor and trailer body repair, including minor damage repair and welding on aluminum and steel.
