Job summary

Dollar Tree Stores seeks a Maintenance Technician II at our Joliet Distribution Center to support reliability of conveyors, lifts, and PLC-based systems.

This role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, safety compliance, and documentation, with a 3rd shift (Sun-Thu 9pm-6am) and a pay range of $29-$36/hour. Ideal candidates have electronic tech training and industrial maintenance experience, and are prepared for overtime and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Experience in electronic technology with industrial maintenance (2 years) or 3 years in related field.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing automated equipment.
  • PLC/PC program knowledge with troubleshooting experience.
  • Industrial electrical experience, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24 VDC systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with PCs and industrial control devices and networks.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical issues to business leadership.
  • Willingness to work shift schedules, overtime, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset and strong teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on conveyors, material handling equipment, lift trucks, dock equipment, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, motor drives (Servo and VFD), networks and external I/O devices.
  • Diagnose electrical problems using blueprints and schematics.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools including multi-meters and laptops.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain organized work areas and documentation.
  • Operate material handling equipment and other powered equipment.
  • Complete work orders and logs per procedures.
  • Develop knowledge of Distribution Center systems and equipment

Maintenance Technician II

3rd Shift: Sunday - Thursday 9pm - 6am

Pay Range: $29 - $36/ hour

About Your Role:

As a Maintenance Technician II at our Dollar Tree Distribution Center, you’ll support the reliability and performance of critical material handling and building systems. You’ll play a key role in minimizing equipment downtime by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting complex electrical and control systems, and ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently. Your day-to-day job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
  • Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on conveyors, material handling equipment, lift trucks, dock equipment, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical and electronic issues involving PLCs, motor drives (Servo and VFD), networks, and external I/O devices
  • Diagnose electrical problems using technical drawings such as blueprints and electronic/mechanical schematics
  • Utilize diagnostic tools including multi-meters, laptops, and other testing equipment
Operational Support & Safety:
  • Follow established safety procedures and guidelines to ensure personal safety and the safety of all Distribution Center associates
  • Maintain organized work areas and promote a safe working environment within the Maintenance department
  • Operate material handling equipment, battery equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment as required
  • Ensure workmanship meets the highest quality standards
Collaboration & Documentation:
  • Assist and support other maintenance technicians with repairs and equipment maintenance
  • Communicate clearly with associates, suppliers, and leadership to minimize equipment downtime
  • Complete work orders, logs, records, and other written or computer-based documentation in accordance with established procedures
  • Develop and expand knowledge of Distribution Center systems and equipment
Continuous Improvement:
  • Initiate and implement new procedures or system improvements to maximize equipment efficiency and uptime
  • Contribute ideas and designs to improve existing equipment and maintenance processes
Your Required Skills and Experience:
  • Coursework or certification in electronic technology plus 2 years of industrial maintenance experience specializing in electronic technology OR 3 years of industrial maintenance experience specializing in electronic technology
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing automated equipment
  • PLC/PC program knowledge with troubleshooting experience
  • Industrial electrical experience, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24 VDC systems
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with PCs and industrial control devices and networks
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical issues to business leadership
  • Willingness to work shift schedules, overtime, weekends, and/or holidays as needed
  • Customer service-oriented mindset and strong teamwork skills

  • Associate’s Degree in electronic technology plus 2 years of industrial maintenance experience specializing in electronic technology
