Job summary

BD in Puerto Rico is seeking a Technician for a 12-hour shift to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve automated equipment across Multivac, HMIS and Vision System.

You will follow directions from Lead Technician and work with engineers to meet cost and efficiency goals; responsibilities include preventive maintenance, documentations, and training to operators; requires an Associate Degree in Electronics or Industrial Mechanics and 5 years’ experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electronics or industrial mechanics is required.
• Minimum five years' experience in a similar maintenance role.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of process machinery.
• Prepare and maintain preventive maintenance documentation.
• Maintain spare parts for assigned equipment; replace components as needed.
• Recommend equipment improvements to increase cost savings and efficiency.
• Fabricate machine parts in the maintenance shop as required.
• Support process improvement projects and qualification efforts.
• Execute and document preventive maintenance work orders.
• Execute and document equipment corrective maintenance.
• Execute and document validations.
• Provide technical guidance to machine set ups and operators.
• Comply with Good Documentation Practices and GMP requirements.
• Follow OSHA and PROSHO requirements.

Job Description

The Technician 12 hours shift is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, continuous improvement and training on all automated equipment, including but not limited to Multivac, HMIS and Vision System.

This position receives direct guidance and work instructions from the Lead Technician. Also, has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Shift Manufacturing Facilitator in terms of daily priorities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

• Responsible for the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of process machinery.
• Prepare and maintain preventive maintenance documentation.
• Responsible for maintain spare parts for its assigned equipment; all additional machine components as necessary.
• Makes recommendations for equipment improvement and work with engineer and production supervisors to attain cost saving and machine efficiency goals.
• Must be able to fabricate machine parts in the maintenance shop.
• Support process improvement projects and qualification effort.
• Execute and document preventive maintenance work orders.
• Execute and document equipment corrective maintenance.
• Execute and document validations.
• Incumbent is expected to be able to provide technical guidance to machine set ups and operators.
• Comply with Good Documentation Practices.
• Comply with GMP requirements.
• Comply with OSHA and PROSHO requirements.
• Responsible for working in accordance with the training, work procedures and instructions to ensure satisfactory EHS performance.
• Responsible for reporting accidents, unsafe acts and defective equipment to their supervisor.
• Cooperate with management and supervisors by actively participating in EHS improvements activities.
• Responsible to complete the training to work as an operator set up in all IDS manufacturing lines.
• Others tasks as required by the supervisor.

Education and Experience:

• Associate Degree in Electronics or Industrial Mechanics.
• Minimum five (5) year’s experience in a similar position.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

1. Knowledge of the followings areas is mandatory;

• Electricity
• Electronics (Diagrams also required)
• Vibratory Feedings
• Pneumatics (Diagrams also required)
• Industrial Mechanics
• Ultrasonic Welding
• Tool Making
• Interpretation of technical drawings

2. Knowledge of the following areas is desirable;

• Programmable Logic Controllers
• Vision Systems
• Hydraulics
• Liquid Dispensing
• Thermoforming

3. Knowledge in the followings areas is a plus;

• Metrology/Calibrations
• Refrigerations
• Vacuum Pumps

4. Experience with the following equipment is desirable;

• Thermoformers
• High-speed assembly equipment
• Bagging equipment
• Pad printing equipment
• Positive displacement pumps
• Ultrasonic welders
