Diamond Animal Health is seeking a hands-on technician for the Sterile Fill department in Des Moines, IA. You will participate in filling, lyophilization, and capping of biological products, and collaborate with a growing portfolio of programs, from established campaigns to new introductions.
The role emphasizes adapting across tasks, ensuring label accuracy, and maintaining production schedules in a regulated environment. A strong work ethic and detail orientation are essential to success.
Diamond Animal Health manufactures biological medicines that end up in veterinary clinics, farms, and animal health programs across the United States, New Zealand, Mexico, and markets in between. The products we make here matter — and the Sterile Fill department is where they actually come to life.
This is not a traditional line manufacturing job. If you are looking for the same task on repeat every day, this probably is no t the right fit. But if you want to be hands‑on with a wide variety of products, get in on new product introductions from the ground up, and build sterile fill skills that are genuinely hard to find in the industry — keep reading.
At the end of a shift, you will know exactly what you made. That is something you can be proud of.
Filling, Lyophilization, & Capping — up to 50% of your time
You will work directly on the filling and freeze‑drying of biological products across a diverse and growing product portfolio — everything from established commercial programs to new product introductions. No two product campaigns are exactly alike, and you will be involved in learning the nuances of each. You will cap and label finished product, verify label accuracy, and keep pace with the production schedule alongside your team.
Before product can be filled, everything that touches it must be prepared and sterilized. You will be responsible for glassware, plastic containers, stoppers, and associated equipment — the foundational work that makes sterile fill possible.
Maintaining a sterile environment is not a background task — it is core to what we do. You will own daily and weekly cleaning of fill suites, hallways, coolers, and freeze dryers, and you will help sanitize all equipment between campaigns. This is regulated, documented, and important work.
You will be on your feet and moving. This role is active by nature — you will be working across multiple areas of the department, transitioning between tasks, and adapting as the schedule and product needs evolve. One day you may be supporting a new product introduction; another you are running an established campaign that ships to New Zealand. Expect variety. Expect to be a meaningful part of something larger than any single shift.
You will need to sustain focus during repetitive tasks, understand regulated documentation, communicate clearly with your teammates and supervisors, and appreciate that what you are producing is subject to government oversight. This is not assembly work. It is pharmaceutical‑grade manufacturing that requires you to be mentally present.
You will work in a controlled production environment, including cold rooms, sterile suites, and areas with moving equipment. Noise levels vary, and hearing protection is required in some areas. The role may involve wet conditions, temperature extremes, and exposure to biological materials. These conditions are managed through established procedures, but they are important to understand before starting.
