Job summary

Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time Technician I for Southwoods State Prison, located in Bridgeton, NJ. The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison.

The position requires valid CMA/EMT/CNA certification, CPR certification, and at least two years of related healthcare experience. It is a full onsite, night shift role with on-site benefits and a nonexempt status.

Qualifications

• Valid CMA/EMT/CNA certification required.
• At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge and skills.
• CPR Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in EMR.
• Assists physician/AP with procedures and prepares inmate for examination.
• Obtains specimen collection and handling, including drawing blood.
• Maintains sterilization and securing of equipment within Health Service Unit.
• Maintains supply stock in Health Service Unit and examination rooms.
• Aggregates orders of medications and forwards to pharmacy provider.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Valid Certified Medical Assistant ( CMA ), Emergency Medical Technician ( EMT ), or Certified Nurse Assistant ( CNA ) certification required.
• At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill and abilities and demonstrating competencies to perform the essential duties of the position

• Valid Driver's License is required. Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another

Physical Demands and Work Environment

As a first responder must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
